About Me

I simply love receiving schwag from all the big search engines, social media sites, trade shows, and conferences. Anything geeky, nerdy, or fun you'll find it here. This blog is created and maintained by ePromos Promotional Products, Inc.

R2D2 USB Hub

Via Geeky Gadgets

Over the past few months I’ve become incredibly aware of all the Star Wars memorobilia that exists out there– to think as a child I was content merely with promotional toys and books. This R2D2 custom USB hub joins the ranks of the r2d2 lunch box, C3PO alarm clock, and Darth Vadar toaster, just to name a small sampling.

Space Invaders Vase

Via Boing Boing Gadgets

Now it might seem like a stretch that a custom vase could possibly be geeky, but take a look: the one up front features Space Invaders, while the one in the back left has Hello Kitty on it. I don’t know if a geeky enough plant exists to be put in these vases, though. You may just want to use it as a storage container for your promotional USB drives and wires.

Geeky Grilling

Via Gizmodo

These tongs are pretty neat– they have a built-in thermometer that lets you know if you’re meat is the right temperature or not. While it’s certainly not what one would consider a unique product, since grilling forks like this have been around for awhile, it’s still pretty useful.

THE.COOLEST.PEN.EVER.

Via Geekologie

Seriously, this is the coolest pen ever– even if it’s still only in the conceptual stage. This pen allows you to scan whatever color you want, and then it mixes the ink so that you can write in it. Clearly, it is a superior writing instrument. It’s almost like a computer! Pretty soon we’re going to have just one device that can do everything we would ever need to do.

Polaroids!

Via Nerd Approved

I absolutely adore these custom picture frames designed to look like Polaroids. They double as dry erase boards, so you can really let your creativity flow. Now you can have all the fun of a Polaroid without having to buy the camera or expensive film.

Baby Link!

Via Geekologie

Craftster user UpKnitCreek created this custom costume of Link, the protagonist of the popular NES game Zelda, for a friend’s baby shower. This may be the most adorable baby apparel I’ve ever seen. There’s even a little belt that can hold its bottle for all its little adventures! So precious.

DJ Hero

Via Game Life

This is slightly mind-blowing to me– Activision, the makers of the popular Guitar Hero, have come up with a spin-off game: DJ Hero. I kid you not; above is the turntable you need to play the game (it also comes with a nice carrying case, which is not pictured). Don’t ask me why, but this seems more ridiculous than those cooking games for Wii that turn your remote into a cooking utensil. Granted I know nothing about DJ-ing, so perhaps it translates really well to video game playing. It just seems one step away from mp3 Hero or iTunes Hero.

The History of the Apple Logo

Apple is one of the most recognized brands in the world, thanks to its iconic logo. People even love it enough to get it tattooed on themselves! I stumbled upon this interview on Creative Bits with Rob Janoff, the designer of the logo, which provides a lot of interesting insights into how the logo was designed. Did you know the original logo had the rainbow stripes as a way of representing that Apple was the first personal computer that could reproduce color? He also debunks a lot of the rumors as to why the logo has a bite taken out of it– it’s not a reference to Eve eating from the fruit of knowledge, nor a cute pun on the computing term “byte”. Rather, Janoff just wanted to communicate size and scale so that the logo would not be mistaken for a cherry! And it’s weird to think, but it was designed so long ago that it was done on paper and pencil instead of right on the computer! If you’re at all interested in Apple and its logo, head over to Creative Bits to check out the interview– it’s a good read.

Splitter Keychain Robot

Via Geeky Gadgets

By day, this cute little robot is nothing but a unique keychain, but by night he turns into a splitter– you can plug two pairs of headphones into his eyes so two people can listen to the same mp3 player at once. He looks more like a promotional toy than a high tech piece of technology– even if he is a robot.
