About Me

I simply love receiving schwag from all the big search engines, social media sites, trade shows, and conferences. Anything geeky, nerdy, or fun you'll find it here. This blog is created and maintained by ePromos Promotional Products, Inc.

Space Invaders Alarm

The true geek is more likely to be woken up by a chance to play videogames than by any alarm clock. To take advantage of this totally natural instinct, use this Space Invader alarm clock, which emits the game’s trademark beeps, sweet music to your ears to wake you up in the morning. It lights up when the alarm goes off, but sits like a well-behaved desk clock otherwise, no matter how much you’d like it to glow in the dark.

When they come out with a Space Invaders watch, of course, we’ll never get anything done…

LED Mascara

It’s almost Halloween, and if you haven’t come up with a costume yet, these LED-enhanced fake eyelashes are a great way to throw a little geek-chic into your look. Even better, they’re hooked up to a tilt-sensor so that when you turn your head, the lights blink on and off. Cosmetics and electronics should mix more often–I’ve seen blinking lights on hats, shoes, jewelry, and other apparel, but these are totally unique as far as I can tell, and I’d love to see more stuff like this.

Math Lamp

If the math watch from last week wasn’t enough to satisfy your lust for numbers, don’t worry–this lamp is a math geek’s dream come true. To turn it on, simply solve a randomly-generated math problem on the attached keypad!

The chalkboard mounting lets you calculate in longhand to your heart’s content, though it probably won’t be necessary just to turn on the lampbulb-brightening solutions lean more toward basic arithmetic than complex algebraic puzzles. Still, it’s a great toy for the mathematician and wouldn’t look out of place in the classroom, either.

A New Kind of Computer Bag

Portuguese designer João Sabino has taken geek-chic to a whole new level, crafting stylish purses out of discarded computer keyboards. The “Keybag,” available in four fetching colors, is not as large as standard computer bags and backpacks, though it could probably hold a small laptop computer as long as it wasn’t packed in with too many bulky accessories. The recycled construction is as attractive as it is sustainable–stylish and eco-friendly, this bag is fit for fashionistas, geeks, and conservationists alike. Did I mention I want one?

Robot Toolbox

This awesome mosaic toolbox depicts Gort, the robot from classic sci-fi film The Day the Earth Stood Still, in all his laser-shooting glory. The design is actually made of cut-up paper from junk mail and magazines, recycled into some sweet (and sustainable!) art. It’s the perfect size to house all your old spare robot parts and the tools to work on them, but it looks like it could act as a reusable lunchbox too. Hey, robots like to snack as much as humans do–they just eat nuts!

Math Watch

The time has come to get back at everyone who copied your math homework in school! This math watch ensures that anyone surreptitiously peeking at your wrist to tell the time had better at least know their basic algebra. All the mathematical operations on the face simplify to the numbers on a “normal” clock, of course, but where’s the fun in that? There’s no built-in calculator, either, though the watch might make a good promotional product for a math textbook company or some kind of test preparation program. Aside from the obvious nerd-appeal, the watch’s simple chalk-on-blackboard design goes with any outfit, even those that don’t include a pocket protector.

Geeks Deserve Cold Drinks Too!

Sometimes, leaving your computer chair to grab a cold, refreshing beverage from the refrigerator just isn’t an option. It’s not laziness, it’s just–there’s so much interesting stuff to read on your newsfeed, and you have to finish this level of the game you just downloaded, and you found this great site full of customizable products that would be great gifts for the new employees at your startup company, and

…by the time you’re done explaining yourself, your drink has gotten thoroughly warm. Sure, insulated thermoses keep coffee and tea hot, but reusable water bottles still only keep cold beverages room temperature. And what if you really want a soda? The USB mini-fridge handles these issues expertly, plugging in to any USB port on your computer and channeling enough current into its can-sized cold chamber to keep your Coke or Pepsi crisp and refreshing.

[You still occasionally have to get up from the computer, though--it only holds one can at a time. Sorry!]

Mac Aquarium

Like all the other geeks out there, I’m always on the prowl for new technology. This thirst for novelty becomes a problem when the old computers, mp3 players, cameras, and other electronics start to pile up. Disposing of old computers in an eco-friendly manner is costly and time-consuming. What’s a sustainability-minded geek to do?

Why, recycle, of course! Just add water and yesterday’s Mac becomes today’s Macquarium! The Apple’s clear shell makes it an ideal fishbowl–you can decorate it with clear stickers or decals on the outside, or add sand and plants to create an oceanic landscape inside. For a futuristic touch, add some blinking LED lights. Just make sure you remove or cover up all the computer’s parts and accessories before filling the shell with water–electricity and fish don’t mix…

Giant Earbuds

The MP3 player and its classic earbud headphones are staples of every geek’s wardrobe, but what about when it’s time to listen to music in the home? Thankfully, you don’t have to abandon your beloved earbuds just because you want to hear music out of real speakers once in a while. These earbud speakers are 500 times the size of the real thing and are sure to become the favorite computer accessory of any audio geek. Just don’t try putting them in your ears!
