Disposable Computers

The quest to build the ultimate eco-friendly computer is never-ending, but this recycled laptop looks like quite a contender. Designer Je Sung Park, noting the quick pace of technological evolution, recognized the need for a “disposable” computer–one that could be upgraded frequently without fear of serious environmental repercussions. This prototype’s outer shell is made of layers of corrugated recycled paper instead of metal and plastic, allowing parts to be replaced without discarding the entire casing. Best of all, its inexpensive construction materials mean it will actually be affordable to the general public, unlike other sustainable laptops (ASUS N51V, we’re looking at you).
The only problem is that it doesn’t exist yet. Meanwhile, it’s a good idea to pick up a matching computer bag to show it off.
